ROYALTY.
1.Superb Queen Victoria jug to celebrate the 60th year of her reign in 1897.There
are 2 printed sides, and there is no damage. A scarce item as the years pass
by,but Queen Victoria and pre WW2 Royalty items are making a huge comeback,
we notice this more than many due to our trading circle. These items also make
a good investment if chosen wisely. £75.
2.Beautiful Doulton Queen Victoria Commemorative mug in blue and white transfer. There
is a lot of information on this mug,it was presented in 1897 by the Mayor
of Grimsby.Even then Royal Doulton was expensive,so perhaps only the Mayors
favourites were given one each of these.Lovely clear mark underneath, the usual
high Royal Doulton Standard. £95.
3.Superb mug designed by the Art Deco doyen of the day Dame Laura Knight. We
have been very lucky recently, inasmuch as we have acquired 2 of these rare
mugs, one already listed for King George the 6th.. Now we offer this slightly
rarer mug for King Edward the 8th (notice the past tense) who abdicated to
marry Wallis Simpson the American divorcee. This rocked the British throne
to it's roots,as Edward the 8th (formerly the then Prince of Wales) was always
very popular with the ladies and he could have married any one of many unattached
European Princesses. He was very handsome and it was once said that he was
the Worlds most eligible bachelor.A sad but true story.Did Wallis do right
by him? it seems she led a fast and racey lifestyle post marrying the ex King,
so it appears that she never changed... This mug for sale at £99

is excellent, the pearlware body giving a slight bluish hue as it should do
-- there is a slight star hairline underneath and nothing else.No restoration

has emanated through sitting on an open rack Welsh Dresser for over 140yrs.I
have seen plates so stained through drawing up the oils in the varnish of
the dressers, also absorbing the chimney and cooking smoke, depending on the
siting of the dresser. Some Gaudy welsh was kept behind glass so you would

1. Pair of Sepia matching Swansea plates. The backstamp is Primavessi Swansea
and Cardiff. The latter were the retailers in the area for the Pottery companies
especially the Cambrian. There is also an impressed "indentation"
backstamp that Swansea potters used..£68 the pair.
2...YNYSMEDW.A large Blue and White hexagonal transfer jug bought years back
from a collector of Welsh pottery. This jug is unmarked but we saw another
-just like this one, in a green transfer, and that had the "WW" Williams
mark for Ynysmedw. The jug is basically in good condition,it has damp and grease
marks inside the jug,but good on the outside. The pattern is Rural.. £80
3.LLANELLY POTTERY. This large jug is in the NAUTILUS pattern and was made
in the Coombes and Holland Period of production. One big problem ! -- there
is a crack from the top to the bottom, right down one side that has been completely
sealed. If you wanted to show this jug on it's good side, it will cost you
£65........
4...SWANSEA willow plate.A lovely Dinner sized plate impressed DILLWYN in
a semi horseshoe on the reverse. Many years back, a very old Swansea collector
said that there are 30 apples always on a Swansea willow pattern.Well he must
have been unable to count as this one has 31 apples, but I suppose he was very
close!! £75
5..SWANSEA JUG.This is a well documented shaped jug in relief moulding. We
have seen 2 of these jugs impressed with Swansea workmans backstamps. This
jug stands on 4 short feet, and one of the feet has an inner crack, that is
not visible from the outside,it is below the base anyway. The outer rim edge
and body decoration,is coloured with the usual Swansea Chocolate brown.A nice
little jug for the Welsh Collector £85.

POTTERY & POTTERY2
1.STAFFORDSHIRE large, beautiful flow blue double handled plates. These are
truly lovely, and they were made by Ridgways/Master Victorian Potters.A lot
of beautiful porcelain, wrongly attributed by Museums to Rockingham, have
proven to have been made by Ridgways, such was the quality of the latters work.
The backstamp on these plates is Opaque Granite China by W.R &Co beneath
the Vicotrian crown. The pattern name, in a cartouche, is HongKong. At this
time c1840's to Mid Victorian, there was an inordinate amount of interest
in anything Oriental - and the Oriental patterns were avidly copied by the
best British and European Potteries.
These 2 stunningly handsome plates would attract instant attention in your
home, such is the quality. There are 2 very small back rim chips from a wire
holder. £118 the pair post free.
2..STAFFORDSHIRE.Childs antique pottery teaset c1830-40.Very desirable as
it is in such good condition. The only fault is a flake rim chip on the cup.The

with a lidded sucrier,as most are later in date and have an open sugar bowl. The
whole set can be yours for £78.

1.Excellent Swansea Cambrian pottery jug clearly impressed DILLWYN,SWANSEA.This
jug is known as the Swansea Twig handle octagonal jug as is illustrated in
E.Morton Nances epic book on Nantgarw and Swansea Pottery and Porcelain. The
Cambrian Pottery produced some of the most famous Welsh Pottery and Porcelain
during the early part of the 1800's under the ownership of the Dillwyn family. This
jug dates from that period of ownership..The enamels on these jugs are mostly
found to have flaked somewhat, but unusually this example's paintwork is more
or less pristine. The jug ,measures 6inches tall, and they were originally
made in 6 sizes - this one would fall into the middle section. If you collect
Swansea jugs then this would make a splendid addition to your collection.£155.
