Click HERE for bigger pictureReally lovely " tenderly made" WW1 hand sewn silk card sent from the frontline to home.Jim was the soldiers name and Sarah was his sweetheart bless him.I hope he made it home-- so many young women never got over the shock of losing their sweethearts, and ended up as spinsters. This was told me by a very elderly lady who went through the same experience herself. She said there were so many young ladies left on their own when the boys were killed,it really amounted to a generation gap in many villages.....£19.

World War 1. 1924 - 1918.France,  Silk embroidered cards from the Front line in France. These cards were made by local French people and sold to the British Soldiers defending the French Frontline. Most of these cards were hand written to their families back home in Blighty (Britain)and on the reverse they say "On Active Service".Sadly many of the card writers never went home again, as they were killed in action against the German invaders. These cards are an Historical record of the terrible conditions our Soldiers endured in the Trenches, written in their own hand.
