Very rare South Wales Mining Lamp from the Cwmtillery pit. This lamp has been over cleaned with brasso over the years and the lettering has been rubbed away from the front plate. However moving the lamp around and viewing at different angles, you can read what it says, it is as follows
THE LANCASTER STEAM COAL COLLIERY
NO. 2 .555
CWMTILLERY
Then along the bottom ridge it is stamped Thomas & Williams Ltd. "47".
It also has the Prince of Wales feathers above the plate. We believe the number 2 Colliery in Cwmtillery to be the most famous.
The lamp is for sale at £120 + £10 for the post as it is very heavy. |
